What’s my purpose in life?
Probably not the best question to ask Alexa.
Alpha is a better place to ask life’s big questions.
Alpha creates a space for people to come, watch a talk exploring a key question of faith, and then chat about it in an open, pressure-free environment.
To find out more, scroll down for more details. If you still have questions, email us…
Starts in Denham on Monday 27 January 2025:
Monday evenings (7.30-9.15pm) at St Mark’s Hall or The Rectory (depending on numbers). Supper included.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith.
Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes and online. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: making new friends, watching a video episode about questions around the Christian faith and good conversation.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

FAQ: your questions answered
Is it for me?
People around the world from all backgrounds, ages and faiths have done Alpha. Their feedback shows that the vast majority have found it helpful.
But I believe in God already!
Many Christians have found that Alpha has re-vitalised their faith. Some of us feel we cannot ask some questions because they are too ‘basic’. At Alpha no question is too ‘simple’ or too ‘difficult’.
But I don’t believe in God!
That’s ok – we thank God that we live in a free country! Would you consider taking part and enriching our conversations with your perspective? You will help those who have a faith to reflect more deeply on it and you may find that some of your assumptions about Christianity aren’t necessarily confirmed.
Can I ‘try before I buy’?
Yes! Just join us for one session and then decide whether you want to continue. There is no fee for the course, so you are not going to ‘lose your deposit’.
Who is leading it?
This course will be lead by our Rector, Christoph Lindner, and his wife Edda.
How long is it?
There are nine weekly sessions plus an Alpha Morning (from 9.30am to 1.30pm on a Saturday).
What if I miss a session?
Don’t worry. You can catch up with the help of the manual that you will receive. We will also send you regular email updates if you’d like that.
Is it too late to join?
If you’ve missed only the first one or two sessions, do join us. If you’ve missed more than that, you could join us anyway, or wait for the next course. You can also go to alpha.org to find out whether a course is starting soon somewhere near you.
Can I talk to someone about this?
Absolutely! Please talk to our church secretary. If you’d like to talk to Christoph or Edda who will be running the course, she’d be very happy to take down your phone number and they will give you a call.
